Mukesh Ahluwalia, MD, is a board-certified pulmonologist, intensivist, and sleep medicine specialist. Since 1999, he has cared for patients at Respiratory and Sleep Specialists, with offices conveniently located in Des Plaines, Oak Park, and Chicago’s Portage Park neighborhood.
Dr. Ahluwalia earned his medical degree from the University College of Medical Sciences at the University of Delhi in New Delhi, India, and completed his internship there at Safdarjung Hospital. He then relocated to Chicago for his internal medicine residency at Grant Hospital of Chicago and Rush–Presbyterian–St. Luke’s Hospital, now Rush University Medical Center, where his program recognized him with a certificate of outstanding teaching to the house staff. He completed his postgraduate training in New York with a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn and a fellowship in critical care medicine at the University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital.
Board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine, and sleep medicine, Dr. Ahluwalia is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and his work has been published in the Journal of Bronchology. Skilled in the full range of invasive procedures across pulmonary, sleep, and critical care medicine, he is committed to helping every patient be as healthy and comfortable as possible.
